What is the difference between Internet and WiFi?

Internet is the connection we provide to the broadband outlet in your apartment. This connection delivers speeds of up to 1000/1000 Mbps.WiFi is the wireless network your router creates within your apartment to allow your devices to connect to the internet without cables. WiFi performance depends on the quality and setup of your router, and factors like interference, router placement, and signal strength.We provide the internet connection to the outlet, but you are responsible for your router and the WiFi network it creates. Why does my WiFi keep disconnecting or feel unreliable?

WiFi can be tricky due to interference and building layouts. Common reasons include:Overlapping WiFi networks: In apartment buildings, many routers and access points compete on the same frequencies.Merged WiFi bands: If your router has "smart" or "band-steering" features that merge 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and possibly 6GHz into one network, try separating them into distinct SSIDs and connect devices to the 5GHz or 6GHz bands.Physical interference: Appliances like microwaves, Bluetooth devices, or thick walls and elevator shafts can weaken or disrupt signals. Why is my internet slow? (90-100 Mbps)

If you're stuck at around 90-100 Mbps:Check your router's WAN port: Many routers advertise high "WiFi speeds" (1200, 1500, 3200 Mbps etc) but only have a 100 Mbps WAN port. You need a gigabit (1000 Mbps) WAN port to reach speeds above 100 Mbps.Try different cables: Ensure you're using a quality Ethernet cable (at least Cat5e).Test without the router: Connect directly to the outlet. If you get full speed, the issue is with the router. Why is my internet slow? (100-800 Mbps)

Due to overhead of protocols, the theoretical maximum amount of data you can transfer on a 1000 Mbps connection is around 950 Mbps. To get close to this you need a performant client connected with a good cable to a performant router. This is a proper setup, but even with this, real-world speeds can vary.If you get below 800 Mbps, there are three main potential causes:WiFi issues: If you're testing speeds over WiFi, you might be seeing slowdowns due to interference or poor router placement. Check the WiFi Guide for tips on improving your wireless network.Router or client limitations: Older or low-performance routers can limit your speeds. Many routers struggle with higher data rates. Ensure you have a recent gigabit (1000 Mbps) capable router, and consider updating its firmware or resetting it to factory defaults.Test without the router: To determine if the problem is the router or the outlet, connect your device directly to the apartment's broadband outlet using an Ethernet cable and run a speed test at bredbandskollen.se and speedtest.net.If you get better speeds while bypassing the router, the issue likely lies with your router or WiFi setup, as the outlet performs fine.If you're seeing the same speeds while bypassing the router (despite having a proper setup), contact our support team for further assistance.If your device lacks an Ethernet port, you can borrow a USB-to-Ethernet adapter and cable from CSB's reception.

Do you offer static public IPv4 addresses?

We do not use CGNAT, so you do get a public IPv4 address. It is not fully static, but your IP generally remains the same as long as your router stays powered on. In the rare case that we need to make certain configuration changes that affect DHCP leases, or if your router is off for more than a week, your IP might change.

In Emilsborg 82A, we centrally manage WiFi routers to provide a better overall experience. The 2.4GHz band is turned off by default to reduce interference. If you require 2.4GHz for IoT devices (e.g., smart lamps, robot vacuums), contact our support team and we'll enable it.

My broadband outlet appears physically damaged or not working properly.
